Learn to play your part while listening to and keeping with the others in your chamber group. In this supportive environment, the confidence of each individual is nurtured by tutors through a range of activities.
Make new friends. Play Chamber Music
This course is specially designed to introduce young string players to performing in small groups. Guided by specialist tutors children have fun learning new skills and making lasting new friendships with other young musicians from across the country, and beyond!
Develop the inner musician
- choir singing develops the 'inner ear' and pitch sense in the instrumental musician.
- Dalcroze instils good rhythmic skill and awareness of tempi.
- Musical Games keep minds alert and encourage fun.

Developing repertoire and musical leadership
More experienced students are encouraged to extend their musicianship, leadership qualities and teamworking skills through the learning and playing of chamber music works. Music is selected to give the best learning opportunities for student ensembles. Composers such as Bach, Schubert and Anita Hewitt Jones have featured recently.
Instilling good rehearsal technique
Any professional musician will tell you how important it is to develop good rehearsal and practice technique. Experienced tutors facilitate practice sessions with students themselves taking increasing responsibility for negotiating creative exchanges leading to performance.
Strengthening core skills
Orchestral playing, Dalcroze Eurhythmics and technique sessions are scheduled to assist students with the musical skills they need to perform to the best of their abilities.
