The opening concert of the 2008 Lake District Summer Music International Festival brings the renowned Goldberg Ensemble in a golden celebration of English music for Strings. Handel’s vivacious elegance alongside Elgar’s lush sound. Benjamin Britten’s searing Les Illuminations; a concerto by Paul Patterson and Gustav Holst’s eternal St Paul’s Suite. The concert launches Music Between the Wars, one of a number of key strands of programming running throughout the Festival. Don’t miss this great opening!
