This remarkable young organist showcases the sounds and swells of both Kendal Parish Church’s historic instruments. His brilliant programme features works played by Mendelssohn on his visit to St Paul’s Cathedral in the 1830s and his rediscovery of Bach. A range of transcriptions ends with the virtuosity of the transcription of Wagner’s Ride of the Valkyries.

Since winning the prestigious Geneva competition the Argentinian virtuoso pianist Nelson Goerner has toured the world and played with the great orchestras. He records widely and his latest disc for EMI includes a new work for piano and orchestra by Jon Lord – of Deep Purple rock band fame! Nelson makes his LDSM début with a compelling programme and partners cellist Robert Cohen on Saturday 8 August.
