Celebrity Morning Recital

Kuss Quartet & Christoph Richter cello

Ambleside Parish Church

Haydn Quartet in D minor, Unfinished, Op.103
Haydn Quartet in F, Lobkowitz, Op.77 No.2
Schubert Quintet for 2 violins, viola and 2 cellos in C, D956

As well as being ‘Father of the Symphony’, Haydn also did much to define the string quartet for future generations of composers. Our first half offers two quartets, including his final (and unfinished) contribution to the medium, whilst a collaboration between two LDSM resident artists, both from Berlin, perform one of Schubert’s most sublime chamber works and bring this morning recital to a close.

“Superb” The Times

Returning to the LDSM following their critically acclaimed production of Purcell’s Fairy Queen in 2007, the Armonico Consort bring a sparkling production of this best-known and most-loved comic opera. Rossini’s witty and exhilarating music amplifies the fast-moving and hilarious comedy from Beaumarchais’s play to create a saucy romp of an opera.
