John Lenehan piano

Tartini (arr. Kreisler) Variations on a theme of Corelli
Beethoven Sonata for piano and violin in A, Kreutzer, Op.47
Szymanowski Fountains of Arethusa
Strauss Sonata

We are delighted to welcome back both Leland Chen and his duo partner John Lenehan. Their programme takes us from the Baroque, albeit arranged, to Beethoven’s Classical masterpiece, and into the evocative and luxurious harmonies of the late romantics and early 20th century.

Mozart Duo in B flat for violin and viola, K424
Nocturnes for solo piano by Fauré, Chopin and Britten
Mendelssohn Sextet in D for violin, 2 violas, cello, double bass and piano, Op.110

The unique circumstances of a festival of resident artists offer rare opportunities for new collaborations and a variety of repertoire. Chopin’s romantic genius inspired composers in the structure of nocturnes and adds a special atmosphere to the classical genius of Mozart and Mendelssohn.
