After the success and over-subscription in porevious years, we are pleased to announce two week-long courses. That said, we would recommend that you get your enrolment form returned quickly to avoid disappointment.

The Patrons of Lake District Summer Music New Generations Artists Concert Series for 2009 has been announced.
These four concerts feature emerging artists such as The Vardanyan Quartet, Duo Non Troppo, Steinberg Duo and Chethams School of Music Ensemble and are well worth attending.
4x4 Composer Residency Announced

Calling all composers with a developed grasp of writing for voices to take part in the third exciting LDSM composers residency, running 26-30 May 2009.
Led by composer John Casken and with the internationally acclaimed Orlando Consort in residence, you will have the opportunity to work intensively on the art of vocal writing and the setting of texts.
As part of the residency The Orlando Consort will perform a concert,"The Call of the Phoenix" at Ambleside Parish Church on Tuesday, 26 May.

Summer Music Festival in Full Swing

The Lake District Summer Music Festival is now in full swing, and several fantastic concerts have already taken place. Successful concerts by Samyo, Chilingirian Quartet, and Gregor Horsch and Carole Presland have already wowed Festival audiences.
The Summer School is now also underway, seeing over 100 students from around the world enjoying first-rate tutorage from some of the world's most accomplished musicians.

2008 Festival about to get underway

Only one more day to go before Lake District Summer Music's 2008 international music festival begins.
The Festival opens with a golden celebration of English music for strings by The Goldberg Ensemble, at The Coronation Hall, Ulverston tomorrow, Friday 1 August at 8pm.

Top festival provides an inspiring musical landscape

The 24th Lake District Summer Music International Festival is aiming for a top three festival rating again this year as it reveals the programme which Festival organizers will paint on the canvas of the Lake District across 17 days this August.
LDSM is affectionately known as the “friendly festival” by more than 10,000 festival-goers each year. This year’s International Festival will bolster its reputation of hosting thrilling concerts in inspiring settings, by staging 52 events, in 12 different locations, across the breathtakingly beautiful county of Cumbria.
